How will you celebrate St. Patty's Day?

Submitted by Rose Egge on Wednesday, March 17th, 12:55pm

There are a couple places in town where you'll be sure to get your Irish fixe.

You can head over to the Celtic Bayou via a shuttle from Marymoore park every 15 min starting at 4 pm to 2 am. The pub is hosting live music all night.

At J.J. Mahoney's the fun started at 10 a.m. and will last through the night! The place is already packed, and they are offering a limited St. Patrick's Day menu.

Where will you be celebrating?

Local troops are “Scouting for Food”

Submitted by Rose Egge on Thursday, March 11th, 04:36pm

You may have some boy scouts knocking at your door this weekend! Thousands of scouts will be out on Saturday, Mar. 13 and 20, collecting for food banks across the county, and all Redmond donations will go to the Redmond Hopelink Center.

The scouts will distribute door-hangers listing the most needed items on Mar. 13 and return to pick up donations on Mar. 20.

“It is one way our young Scouts can really make a difference in other children’s lives,” says Scout Leader Chris Bean of troop 596, “It is very rewarding for the kids and their neighbors appreciate an opportunity to donate, knowing that the food goes directly where it is needed most.”

Apply for upcoming Classic Rockathon at Old Fire House

Submitted by Rose Egge on Wednesday, March 10th, 03:40pm

The Old Fire House Teen Center is calling all aspiring young musicians to the fourth annual Classic Rockathon. The competition is open to young people between the ages of 13 and 19 who are solo artists or bands that strive to keep the classic rock spirit alive.

All genres of music are welcome. Finalists will play their favorite Classic Rock songs live on stage, be heard by local music industry professionals and have the chance to win prizes. Prizes this year include recording time in the Fire House media lab recording studio, gear and gift certificates. All proceeds benefit The Old Firehouse Teen Center.

"Our definition of classic rock includes music up to 1995. We hope to see Grunge featured in performances this year as it was a significant time for music in the Seattle area," commented teen producer Nzynga Hendricks.
